piston kits - who to go with?

I'm looking at doing a top end on a 98 KTM 250EXC and was looking for some feedback on piston kits. Currently I'm favoring Vertex over the Weisco. I ride mostly trails and not alot of WOT stuff. I believe that the Vertex may be better suited for me. I have also read that Vertex is the OEM manufacturer of pistons for my bike.

Any feedback would be appreciated

piston kit

I rebuilt my 99 300 EXC this fall with the Weisco kit. Went together great and runs like brand new. Can't help you with comparisons but it worked fine for me

Are you sure you need a piston? The stocker is usually good for 2 or 3 sets of rings. For that reason I'd stick with the stocker if you decide you still need a piston.

TexKDX,

That is true. And the piston does look good. The reason I decided to go new is because this is the original piston (1998) and new rings are $40 each (need 2) for another 20 I can get a kit.
