I am planning on rebuilding my top end soon but I don't have a manual. I ordered one from the dealer yesterday but it won't be here for 7-10 days (sure it will!).

I bought a Wiseco piston but I don't know what the ring gap should be. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Ken

The Wiseco piston should come with a yellow sheet that gives the minimum ring end gap. Mine (#750P4) says it should be at least 0.012". With new rings and a newly bored (225cc) and plated cylinder mine measured 0.015". That's what I've recorded as a baseline. Eric Gorr's book says the max gap should be in the 0.018 - 0.025 in. The KDX shop manual says the OEM max service limit is 0.026 in.

0.15 ~ 0.35mm - service limit is 0.65mm
(same gap for both rings btw)

Torque for the cylinder head nuts is 25 N-m (2.5kg-m, 18 ft-lb) (don't forget to cross tighten, and not tighten them clockwise or anti-clockwise)

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I didn't notice the yellow sheet in the kit but I will look again.

Now I can ride on New Years Day! Yes!
