Pontiac SX - Who's Going? Anyone Racing Am Day?

Since it's about 2 weeks away now... just wondering who all is going to the Pontiac SX?

We're making our first trip there and we're gonna race the Amateur SX on Sunday, too. Should be pretty cool watching the top dogs race the track on Saturday then riding it ourselves on Sunday (and asking ourselves... "just how do they go through these whoops WFO?!?"). :confused:

We'll be there Friday night for the track walk. We may have a few extra Friday night track walk tickets if anyone is interested.

And word is that Doug Henry is racing Pontiac, too!! That'll be really cool! Go #19!!! :)

What was the hot spot club to go to after the race again? I remember seeing that in a thread a while back. Anything else exciting to do around Pontiac? We may have some time to kill Friday and Saturday.

We also are going to Pontiac. It will be our first time despite living in Michigan for 6 years. We are just going to go Saturday to watch the pros race.

Driving in saturday morning and leaving sunday around 11am. The "Hot spot" was suppose to be Big Bucks just down the road from the Silverdome.

What time is your race?

I usually go to Pontiac, but Red Bud's racing on Sunday and I want to go there. If it's crappy weather I'll probably go to Pontiac. Getting there at 12:30 and doing the all day thing is the only way to go. The best feeling is walking in the doors to the stadium and hearing the 125's on the track and the smell of the exhaust...It really gets you geeked to ride!

Not to rain on your parade about Amateur Day, Nikki, but the most seat time you'll get is sitting in the tunnel waiting for your 2 lap practice, 4 lap heat, and (maybe) 6 lap main. If you're going just for the experience, great, but it's a long day. They mow down the whoops, triples, and all other peaked jumps, but somehow the ambulance stays busy ALL day. I don't want to discourage you, but at least now you're an informed racer. :)

Everybody will have fun at Pontiac. The crowd's always into it, it's a great time.

:scream: lol, nikki--I couldn't walk through those whoops without either falling, or having to sit down for a rest.;)

Davey Coombs said something like his quad almost bottomed on the whoops in Atlanta(?) during a prerace "walk through". I'm sure I'd be taking a dirtnap as soon as my front wheel hit the first whoop, if I didn't faint first just ccoming onto the scene.:confused:

I wish i could this year but i live way up in the u.p. now. Last year was a blast until a drunk buddy that we didnt really like showed up and got arrested and tried to fight half of the pontiac police depatment. I was a good time though.

I'm going Saturday to watch the race only. We have pit-passes so we plan on getting there around 2p.m. or so. As for where to go, just drive down Woodward ave. About a million places to go. Rumors is popular and close by.

Of coarse I'm going. It's a Great weekend. The Amatuer SX is not racing, it's more like follow the leader. But it's still Fun! Good Luck.

Should be a good time! I would love to see Reed keep on his streak and win a 250 main! Wow - that would be something else!

Ahh... we've raced AX's so I'm sure the Amatuer Day at Pontiac can't be much worse. Like an oversized AX. Needless to say, it'll be an experience. :confused:
