power valve cleaning

i need to know how to clean the powervalve on a 97 RM 250 and what to use to clean it with like carb cleaner or oven cleaner ?

I would try to clean this one without taking it out. I once broke down a 98 RM powervalve. I needed drugs and alcohol to get it back together properly.

If your bike is the one with the steel PV oven cleaner should be OK, BUT I cleaned my 2000RM (ally PV ) with the stuff and it seemed to take the anodizing off, so be careful!

i use carberator cleaner on mine and it gets them spotless

Oven cleaner on the aluminum cylinder will erode it away with long exposer. It works like myradic (sp) acid in time. I would remove the power valve to clean it if it were me.
