hey,

my cousin has a 2000 Yamaha Big Bear. Anyway, recently it has been burning oil, fouling a couple plugs, and making a weird knocking sound when he tries to start it. he likes to have fun with it and isnt afraid to stay of the rev limiter. Does he need to rebuild the top end?? If so, are there any good kits out there or would it be best to take it to the dealer??? Any idea how much dough he's lookin at here??

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

oil burning....fouled plugs....5 years old. ridden hard...I'd suspect the top end is worn. the knocking could be a worn piston that is slapping the cylinder. then again his valves could need adjusting.
