Race Tech Mid valve and Cylinder seal question

Hi all,

I am in the process of installing a set of Gold Valves on my 03' YZF450.

The kit gives directions to install a cylinder seal below the seal head, yet
doesn't include the part. Thats another $30 or so. No big deal, but its a
pain in the butt to stop and order more parts. The directions don't really
say whether or not this is something I really need to do or not. I didn't.

The directions DO say that Race Tech recommends removing the Mid-valve, and
replacing it with a check plate. I did.

Now I can't help but think if everything is going to be OK or not. Do both
modifications need to be done together, or is just doing the Mid-valve
modification acceptable? I did lay out and record the original Mid-valve
stack, so I will able to return to it if need be.

BTW, I am 220 lbs, have the correct springs, am old, slow (not too slow!),
and ride MX only. I went with RT's suggested valving stacks, but am
certainly open to suggestions!

Thanks in advance,

I did use the red loctite on the nuts, as well as the seal head. I torqued the nuts carefully, but I can't help wonder how secure they are. 48 inch pounds isn't very much, especially after seeing how heavy the factory peens them. How common is it for them to come off? I did use contact cleaner first, but won't the oil eventually kill the loctite?

Never saw one of mine come off buyt dont want to . Funny though on loder bikes a couple years back a Southern Company was leaving the nuts a bit loose and staking them really slolidly and trhe M/V piston would spin on the post , I guess they were looking for plushness. Dngerous in my opinion.
