From the angles on ABC looks like the booing and blaming RC may not be deserved. It sure looked like Pastrana got a bit sideways and RC going for the inside line had no way to avoid it short of going down himself.
My own call It sure looked like good hard racing

I think It was a little intentional...Carmichel could of missed him if he put on the brakes, but pastrana took carmichael's rut that he was already in.

it was racing. But Pastrana will "Race" Carmicheal the next chance he gets.

Carmicheal is NOT the fastest guy on the track. Heck he might not even be the second fastest.

Goober(the announcer, I can't rememebr his name) thought it was a double bump also untill he saw the rerun. So much for being there.;)

RC

Pastrana summed it up best according to cyclenews in this quote.

,” Pastrana said. “I had trouble with that section, and when I tried jumping in the rut, Ricky didn’t do me any favors. He could’ve avoided taking me out, but that’s racing.

Pastrana almost lost it trying to avoid hitting RC just before he passed him going into the whoop section, but he did not hit him. These guys are good enough not to hit each other unless they WANT to.

Block passing and bumping are not the same thing. It seems that the "That's racing" is being used as an excuse for being a less than fair rider. These guys are going real fast and any intentional contact should be dealt with harshly. It is dangerous enough with people intentional bumping. Sooner or later it will cause retaliation. If it escalates, there will be bumping elsewhrere on the track. If one of the top riders has a career ending injury during one of these incidents it will be a whole different story. Besides that, whoever is in front, even if only by a wheel, should have the right to what ever line they want.

David Bailey said that. What I don't get is when he said that RC gave Travis that extra bump (which he didn't) to make sure he knocked him down was a "smart" move? What's up with that? This is the same guy that was all over Roncada last week for putting on block passes that never even touched anybody. I think DB's Honda bias is shining through again! :p

I got a buddy, Darren, that will attest to that statement. MX547 even uses it in his signature line.

I saw it in the stadium and it looked like Carmichael's fault. After seeing it on TV it looks like Pastrana tried to switch from the outside line to the inside in front of Carmichael. Carmichael probably could have kept from hitting Pastrana, but he had no interest in making that effort. It is a race and he had the right of way.

We booed Carmichael at the race. Why? Because it was a great race right up until he took Pastrana out.

Time to add my 2c worth. Ithink RCis a very talented rider with more than his share of dreiv, the kid just wants to win. I grew up wathcing motocross on the 70''s and watched it evolve into supercross. During what many announcers and writers remember as the good old days (including D Bailey), that movbe would have been regarded as a gentle tap and RC would have been thought a wimp. Anybody rememberHannah and Howerton, how about Bradshaw and Staten, if you wanna hate team Honda (the NY Yankees of motocross) goa ahead, but don't sell RC short. (pun intended). I think the kid is maturing nicely, and is dealing with this Rickey bashing with more class and dignity than I thought he had. I want to see Travis win one too, Ithink he is one of the best things to happen to motocross, but hey, THAT"S RACING.

the people booing r.c. are putzes.i could only dream of being good enough to get booed.remember jeremy getting booed and now he gets cheered cause he is the underdog.gordon gets booed in winston cup and every other racer that is on top seems to get booed.doesnt it seem strange that you or i dont get booed when on the track?i wrote the book on slow and nobody cares.

no fault

The first think i looked for in the replay was if ricky was on the brakes...he was....as a matter of fact both wheels were locked. it looked to me that travis panicked when he realized that he left the inide ope nadn tried to dive inside to protect it.....by then ricky had already started the pass and had no choice but to hit him.....the second tap was mearly a burst of throttle aimed at clearing him of pastrana.....it looked like good racing to me....watch the tape if you have it.

i haven't seen the race yet, but unless it is a blatent act of taking another rider out (which with all this controversy it obviously was not) boos are not deserved. also, no one was hurt, it's not like they were going over the triple and RC whipped his bike into TP, it was a little bumping in a turn.

i think RC is a good rider, although i can't stand his attitude he didn't deserve what he got from all the details i've heard.

LMAO. I don't think I'm sure about the RC-TP incident, but I know that kiddo has mastered "clarity of expression." :)
