What has been up with RC lately? First he pulls out of the World Cup, ok, so even if I do by the "it's not a race that means anything", he was still in Cali and planning to race that day, so just do it. Enough of that...
Now the US Open, he is dominating as usual. But then, on lap 5 of the main, he looks like the RC of old, hits the corner too fast and washes out. I guess it was in a weird corner or something, and it took a long time to get the bike started, and when he did, he was dead last. He starts a ride reminisent of MC's ride last year but takes no prisoners on his way back through the pack. I've heard him complain about some riders, but this move on Reed was more than blatant

is crazy. I guess he took Lusk and Langston out before this happened. He needs to settle down or he's gonna see the ground a lot this year. Unless he really is in the heads of everyone. Back in the day, racing like this got you one place fast, tasting the dirt.
I was actually starting to like RC a lot, but some of his choices of recent time are really making me think about it.
At least there will be that cool orange bike to cheer for once the season gets started :thumb: .

Yeah, if RC doesn't shape up soon he might only win 50% of the '03 SX races and 75% of the nationals.

It's racing - the best rider doesn't always win (except RC '02 outdoors). If he had a habit of making 'bad choices' he would not be one of the all time greats.

i think the only reason RC lost was because he wasnt wearing his usual orange gear!:P

maybe if the other riders would get as angry when they didnt win, then we would have a race worth watching.

as for reed, i hope marcus is right, i watched at glen helen on the 450f and he looked to have the measure of ferry...lets hope he can give some competition to RC.

i am already looking forward to the san diego SX....i just hope travis sorts himself out and gets on it, i am confident he has the speed!

I'm more than happy to see LaRocco win but I don't think this one race is a good thermometer of things to come. RC isn't any where near done yet.... :)

Thats a pretty harsh move, though i did the same in the weekend on some dude :-) Reed should have just opened the throttle and rode into RC, but with a 100G's up for grabs its expected to happen, though for me it was like im sick of flowing a CRF in the mud, and it hurt.

LOL!! Nice picture! Looks like someone should tell RC that the whoops are to his RIGHT :moon:

Ahh... racing is racing. And AX tracks indeed make for tight racing... Maybe the marriage curse is setting in for RC? I'm a big RC fan... but I would love to see Reed, Larocco, Vuillemin, and company take a few wins in the '03 SX season.

Kiwi 925 is right Reed should have clutched it for a t bone fillet mignon a la Rick Johnson.......if everyone was a bit thirstier RC wouldn't pull that sort of stuff......but they let him so they have to eat it and smile. That said Chad Reed is another name for speed!! and he can only get better.

I was wondering when everybody would find something to get revved up about again.

yep, the nationals are done, superbikes, motoGP, F1....it seems a long wait for the start of the SX in january i am getting impatient already. :(

He goes 5-1 in the US open after a crash the first night...
and makes a few moves that are totally normal to any pro AX rider on a AX track.

I wouldnt count RC's attitude or riding any different than it has been in the past few years - or in his whole career.
dominanting whatever class he was in.

like him or hate him, its the simple truth
and everyone should be used to it by now..he has had a long career already.

I just wish he was lying about it! Maybe the time has come to get back to the days of Hannah/Howerton. Just as long as it doesn't go as far as the Bradshaw/Matasievich days!

Ya put that move in an arenacross, or in a SX a decade a go and eveyone would be talking about RC being a real pro, doing what it takes. I hope the other guys do step it up and make the races interesting. I like RC, but I want to see everyone try as hard as he does and step up to the bar. :flame: The Open doesn't mean much , but hey it's all we've got right now. :yeehaw:

Yeah I dont mind RC......he's mean old school....no tattoo's or earings.....chains or Bulls@#t....Trains harder rides harder.....and wants it more......he's the fastest and the hardest at the moment. Period.
But all it will take is one rider to show that if you try you can race with him and the others may step up afterall everyone just wants to see good racing. The Old & Slow Politically Incorrect KX Dude seems to think Reed doth not posess the speed.....but the difference is that Reed doesn't know that yet so in the first few races of the year he'll actually have a go. Now if he follows my advice and T bones RC in the first turn.....he's got a big chance!!

I like RC, and as long as he doesn't whine when somebody gives a little bit back, it makes it all that much more exciting to watch. Maybe if RC rubs some of these guys the wrong way it'll ignite a fire in their bellies. :flame:

I think this speaks volumes about just how dominant RC has been. We hold him to a very high standard. Not my favorite rider, but I totally respect him, his choices, and his accomplishments.

Big Tuna-
For the record - I like Reed.
(but also watched him totally take out langston big time at daytona)

Also with that said : do not think that above posted pic shows the whole story..those guys bashed each other quite a few times before that shot..
Almost a matasivich /Larry ward scene ,stopping in the corners looking at each other ...LOL
That stuff is daily occutrance on an AX track like the US open.

and i dint hear anything about either one whining about it later.
So its all good?

Should be a good season :)
