I just got my YZ100 cylinder back from Eric Gorr with a port and bore job. It is tight. The piston clearance is right at the minimum :) (.0016") by the book, and the ring end gap is below minimum at .010": book says .016"-.020". Is .016" the absolute minimum or would I get a little better performance at say, .014? Since it is a fresh bore on the cast iron, will it not open up a little during break-in?

There is no performance advantage to be found there. Just set it to spec and ride it.

Too tight of a ring end gap will trash your bore.

Thats why he said set it to spec. . File the ring gap . Are you using an oem piston or a wiseco ?

Its a done deal. OE piston, set to specs in book.
