I added 2 teeth (over stock) to my rear sprocket and immediately noticed the rubber (and now the aluminum) on the guide wearing away fast at the back, bottom of the guide because of the change in the chain angle. What should I do about this?
Did you add any links to the chain or just move the wheel up to compensate for the added teeth on the sprocket? You may have moved the sprocket too close to the guide. Try adding a link and moving the wheel back away from the guide.
Pulling the rear wheel forward used to be a MX tuner tip to get the wr400/426 to turn better.
At the time I had ditched the hohum stock chain guides for the zip ty teflon ones which have their own issues but you don't have to worry about sawing on aluminum with your chain.
Anyways, I am not answering your question as succinctly as Terry, but you might like the effect of having the wheel forward, in which case I might try aftermarket chain guides or clearancing the stock units for your application.
