Hi all,

My rear shock on my 1999 KDX220 seems to have jammed up / lost its spring and damping.

Any pointers on why this would happen and if / how it can be fixed?

Does it need re-gasing?

Take the shock off, then take the spring off and see how it moves. Maybe it can be rebuilt. The bladder may have blown from losing oil.

Can you give us more explicit details? What you describe is insufficient to make an accurate diagnosis.

Like mudpack said, we need more details. It could be something as easy as a neglected linkage bearing that's siezed up. Or the shock could be ran out of oil, scored up the shaft and inner body, and need complete replacement.

Have you removed the shock to see if the swingarm/linkage moves freely?
