I frequently ride/race bomber and vintage bikes. In an effort to improve the handling of these bikes where typically revalveing and rebuilding are the only options.I've been wondering how much of an effect a significant reduction of the unsprung weight via, aluminum sprocket, aluminum spoke nipples, new rims and lightweight tires would have on the overall ability of the front and rear suspension to handle the more severe demands of todays tracks.
You see "reduced unprung weight" listed almost every year as an improvement of a previous year model.I want to know just how much is needed to notice it ,and what the actual benefits are other than the ability of the suspension to respond quicker to the terrain?

im sure the same characteristics apply to bikes as they do to cars on the unsprung weight issue. the bike should feel much lighter and should have improved braking ability due to less rotating mass. it just makes everything better
