Depends on how much you ride it, but "they" (who ever that may be) claim the reeds should be replaced every year. I had FMF torque reeds in my sons old KDX200 for years of light use without ever replacing them.
You can pull the reed cage and look for yourself. If they're split or frayed at all, replace them.
