I'm going to be there friday around 8am. If you want to do a ride at that time we are planing on riding over Tejon trail then cutting over to Piru creek trail, and then to Halfmoon campground. There is still alot of snow and you can't get over Fraizer Mountain, but all the trails around there,Arrastra,East Frazier, and Gold Hill were great last Friday. We did about 57 miles but some of that was doubling back due to snow. Lockwood creek and Piru creek are flowing pretty good right now. We found some great riding on the other side of Frazier Park that you can access for Gorman too. On Fridays I usually drop my kids off at school and ride up there for 3 to 4 hours before heading back to pick them up.

This looks like it will be lots of fun. Since I'm getting up there early we'll try to get two cabanas that are close enough together to strech our group between.

Tator- that sounds like a great loop. I'll be up for it. Do I need to put the plate on the bike for that loop?

No problem.

There's a reasonable hotel anothe mile up the road at Castaic, off of I-5 and the frontage road called Good Nite Inn. It's next to the truck stop - not to worry - my whole family stayed there more than once when my wife wanted to come along.

No plates needed unless I get lost again. We had to take Lockwood valley Road back to Gorman a couple weeks ago and the sheriff past us and saw us getting gas in town and did'nt bother us.

Thanks Tree, Ill be showing up with a white Chevy 2500HD and a Aljo 27ft trailer if I can get Friday off. Ill probably have two teenagers in tow if thats not a problem. Ill have to look up and see where you guys are staying on the map. BTW, the last I heard, the trails werent open yet up at Gorman. A buddy I spoke with last night went up there two weeks ago and said that they were still doing trail maintenance. I would guess that would include all the upper trails like Tejon East Frazier, Arrista ect*** Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

Some people went to Gorman last weekend. The forest trails are open. East Frasier, the one that switch backs up the mountain was closed. They went to the top the backway. There was a couple of feet of snow at the top.

Hopefully the maintenance work will be done by next weekend.

We'll be up for the day on Friday. Jake Joey, Lori and Myself.

Does anyone have specific directions to this campsite? The gorman map on the posted link simply has a general map to the area.

Traveling northbound on I-5, exit at Smokey Bear Rd. (about a mile past Pyramid Lake). Go left under the freeway to a stop sign. After making a left turn, immediately turn right onto a dirt road. Follow this road to the entrance at which point it becomes paved. On the paved road, the first campground (on the right side) is Lane Ranch. The second (on the left) is Akliklik. And the third (on the right) is Smith Forks. If you pass a stop sign, go back. The campground is directly northeast of the stop sign. (Also across from a large open area.) Hope this helps.

I'm going to try to make it out on Saturday or Sunday.

I'm out. Julie has something planned for my B-day on Saturday and I'll probably have a massive headache come Sunday morning.

Headache  isnt that what she's suppose to say when you want to play around? Thats one thing about your bike, it never has a headache and it loves to be ridden.
