Despite the over whelming OHV support ( 3 to 1 ) despite Daphen Green sending someone down from the OHMVR-D to opposed this ord. this Ordinance was passed 4-1 ( Stone of district 3 opposed it ).

It was obvious that this had been settled prior to the hearing as all public comment from the OHV community was ignored.

SB county is set to do the same thing on Apr 11, 2006

It was a disgusting display. The thing to do now is replace the three stooges. Supervisor Stone is not stupid, he just got elected and probaly realizes the voting numbers we have, the others should be picked off one by one by the OHV voters. We need to replace these guys with pro-OHV people and I nominate JPIVEY as the first candidate.

Not a good idea, I would have bit*h slapped Buster for being a Spitler puppet and Ashley for being a jellyfish, but you are right, we need to get more involved in the political side of this and start voting these people off. District 1 and 5 needs to be replaced, they have a large number of OHV users as does 3 but I think Stone is on our side or at least showed common sence

MY XR Plow's Fields of Dreams

Guess we all will need to be creative to ride these days. I am going to use the property maintenance angle. Or better yet, I will promote eco-tours to search for endangered species so Mr. Ashley can stop progress in this county. OR this ain't no motor sickle- It's a two wheel tractor Mr. Buster. And anyone in this county who needs a OHV friendly notary to prepare you neighbor permission slip, I'll hook you up.

What a shame...I thought about that meeting yesterday but couldn't get anyone to get my kids picked up from school so that I could go. All of my neighbors are on spring break except for my kids who go to a different school. I have a question. Do the farm workers who use the atvs to get around the orchards have exemption? I see them tooling around all of the time. How are "business'" affected such as those?

Yes they have exemptions as well as eco-tourism ( which I take to mean pink jeep tours ) this will not go into effect for 7 months and their will be suits file against it, hopefully all seperate suits, not a class action type.

What is the ordinance specifically limiting. I know it is aimed at restricting people from riding on their private land, but what are the exact provisions that were passed, or atleast a summary? I read about it a while back but just curious what was actually put in place.

The new rules will allow off-roading on private property in the unincorporated areas only between noon and 5 p.m.

Property owners who wish to use their land for off-roading will be required to obtain a county conditional use permit and only certain properties qualify for such a permit.

The proposal allows just one off-road vehicle or dirt bike per 10-acre parcel. Supervisors said the rules will be complaint-driven, so off-roaders who keep the noise down are not likely to attract the attention of enforcement officials.

Owners of 5-acre properties in zones where riding is allowed will be required to obtain notarized signatures of permission from all contiguous neighbors before riding on their property.

SSSSSHHHHHHHH! Dual sport tags are a secret loophole.

I believe that the eco-tourism angle refers to guided trip type activities in non-highway registerd vehicles ( i.e pink jeep tours).

Hell, they are probally here illegally anyway so they get a pass too.

Thanks for the summary. What a shame, I fear that is just the start of more restrictions to come. Once they get their foot in the door it seems nothing is good enough they have to keep pushing for more restrictions.
