My ol' 125 is burning some coolant, at least thats what I am thinking with the odd smelling white smoke coming from her. My question is this. Would a base gasket failure allow coolant in to the combustion chamber? I know the head is my first option, but i heard that sometimes the coolant is routed in a way that a base gasket failure would allow for this as well. Does any one know if that is the case for an 02 rm 125?

thanks for looking, hope to hear from some people on this

Yep, by the looks of the parts fiche on bikebandit, it looks like the water jackets pass thru the base gasket.

It's very possible that it's the source of your problem.

Cheap and easy fix. When you order your gaskets, get a couple sets.. Just incase.
