I have an 05 RM250 with a Hinson inner and outer basket. The clutch works great. My issue is clutch drag when trying to start the bike in gear. I race harescrambles and we do dead engine starts. My routine on my KTM was to start in second gear and was first or secoind most every race to the first turn. The drag on the RM's clutch does not allow for a good enough kick to guarantee a start on the first kick. I have checked the oil height and it is right on and I am using Spectrol Clutch Saver oil.

I am all ears.

Are you using stock clutch plates? My bike , with th eHindon parts, drags much more with aftermarket plates. My wallet hates buying them...

My friend had an RM with an aftermarket clutch and he could not start in gear either. Maybe stock would be better for you?

I have a 99' with Wiseco basket, stock plates, Hinson pressure plate.

This works for me. Adjust the clutch leaver so it does not start engaging the clutch for 1/4 inch off hte bar. Start engine for warm up hold in the clutch leaver, put in second gear and rev the engine up one or two times to get it nice and free not too long that it will overheat the plates. Turn off the engine like normal but do not release the clutch leaver not even a little until you start it and off you go. Try this several times before a race to get it down.
