Hi, I am trying to replace the seals on my sons 97 rm80, the manual calls for a special tool to remove the valve, is this absolutely necessary or can somethin else be used in it's place

Im starting the same project on my kids 96 rm80 , have you finished and what did you find out? After pricing the special for seal tool for 497.00 us today the shop owner and I decided I didn't need any special tool. thanks
