Just got my nephew a new rm85L. The gearing seems a bit tall for trail riding so I was thinking of going from the stock 13-48 (3.69 to 1) to a 14-55 (3.92 to 1). My question is will a 55 rear sprocket clear the stock chain guide???

Maybe

We have run a 13/48 and now settled on the 13/49 for technical offroad riding. I have a 50 that I put on once and Junior said 1st gear was useless too low. 13/50 will give you 3.87 ratio. We found that the 16 rear tire can vary by as much as 1.25" in dia also. That makes a differance with these lil bikes. We rode the 85 this way and now as a 100.

In the off season if you guys are serious trailriders or just want some good power get in touch with Eric Gorr and get hooked up with his 100 kit for the 85L. It will be the best money you can spend as no other mods or aftermarket parts for under $300 can even come close.
