Sat Morning Ride?

Hey Fred
2big and Creeper9 and I will be riding Mio and Hunt Creek Sat. AM. Plan on departing around 9:00 AM. We will be meeting on Mt Tom road, where the trail is actually part of both Hunt and Mio loops (about 1/2 mile south of Hill Road). When we ride Mio, Creepers dad may be joining us - so pace will be slower (but my pace is anyhow!) You are welcome to join us. LMK if you are interested and I can get you more details.

We plan to be camped at Geels through Monday (across the pavement from the parking lot, on the two track the CCC holds events on). You're welcome to swing by and ride with us. I plan on some Dual Sporting plus riding the Geels loops (maybe some mid-summer maintenance on the trail, but I won't bother you with that part).
Fred - directions emailed a short while ago. I am looking forward to the ride! Creeper9 and Tom will keep you entertained trying to keep your dust in sight - and I will be the designated slow guy.... See ya at 9:00! Anyone else interested join on in!

I spoke to Joel last night about riding, but he said he had some family up for the weekend, but did mention you might be up in the area. Hey I lost your email address from before - wanted to email some of those pics from our ride to you. My boys and I had fun that weekend. I understand that Blake bought a 300EXC?

Do you know the spot where we are meeting up? Just in case you dont, or if others want to show up, here are some directions. I am at work now so I don’t have a map in front of me, so I wont have good distances, but I think I can get you there. I will give two approaches, between the two you can figure it out on a map.
Mark W - next tuesday will be a bit late...we are riding Tomorrow!
First approach:
Head north on M-33, go through Mio. In Mio M-72 will join in with M-33. A few miles north of Mio you will see a Yamaha dealership on the right (east) side of M-33. Maybe 1 mile after that, there will be a big sweeper curve to the right, and you will see a small road that actually continues straight north. Turn onto that road, which is Mt. Tom Road.
You will go (?) several???) miles on Mt. Tom and eventually there will be a spot where there is a sort of “Y” where road will curve left, but Mt. Tom actually splits off North. Off hand I am not recalling the name that the road becomes when it splits left. Mt. Tom at this point looks rather smallish, almost two trackish. Proceed oh…maybe another mile or two. You will see where the ORV trail crosses Mt. Tom. On your left will be a field. You have gone maybe ½ mile to far if you come to an intersection with Hill Road. The section of trail that crosses Mt. Tom is the part where it is common to both the Mio and Hunt Creek loops.
Alternate Approach:
M-33 through Mio, into Fairview. M-33 will break off to the North from M-72 at a blinker light in greater downtown Fairview. Turn north (left) on M-33. Go north for about 5 miles or so to Comins. On the north side of Comins is a road called Boiling Springs Road. Turn left (west) on Boiling Springs road. Follow this for (??? 3 – 4 miles???) to Hill road. Hill road is on your left. To help find Hill road – for about the ½ mile to 1 mile prior to Hill road you will be in an area that appears to have been clear cut in the last few years (actually it was a Tornado that did it) Last time I was there, it had a crude home made type sign wired onto the stop sign saying Hill road. Follow Hill Road maybe 1 mile or so to Mt. Tom road. Turn left (south) on Mt. Tom. ½ mile or so field on your right, ORV trail crosses.
I will be in a White Chevy extended cab truck (older body style) with black fender flares. Parked near the tree line at back edge of field. I will hope to arrive a few minutes before 9:00 AM.

Mike - I am going to try and make it. We are all packed up and leaving about 4:00am ( miss the Friday night traffic ). If all goes well, I will drop girlfriend off at our cabin between Rose City and Mio at about 8:00am, and then head up to trail head. I have a pretty good idea of where you are parking and your directions. I should be there close to 9:00am, but don't wait too long for me in case I cannot make it for some reason. We rode Mio first, Kurt and Tom had other afternoon commitments so left the rest of us so we could go ride Hunt Creek. All told 62 miles - no injuries, though a few trees lost a bit of bark, a couple incindents of Kurt pursuing his facination for geology when he took some soil samples on some blown corners. Great Ride!
Off to the fireworks a in a couple hours...see ya on the trails again!

Mike and gang. Thanks for having me along for your ride. I had an excellent day. Sorry I had to push off so quick but had commitments too and I was a bit late but not too bad. Good to see you guys again. See you at Loose Moose enduro in a couple weeks.

Yes Ted - I still hold Judge Weissen in the highest regard for his fairness in "Dueling Bikes". Sorry to hear you have grudges about the judges :)
Sounds to me like you guys had a BLAST up there!! Freddy, are you still creating dust storms for the people behind you?? Sounds like we are just gonna have to get y ou a set of bald tires and take away that revloc to slow you down a little!!
KTMmike - Thanks for the ride report!! I FINALLY got beyond the pain enough to sit up for a while and read - FEELS GREAT!!! I LOVE the reports that read "and NO injuries..."! Those are my FAVORITES!!

Woodsy - yeah good ole FFOF did stir up a bit of dust for us slow pokes. I could likely learn something watching that guy ride...but first I need to keep him in sight long enough to have something to watch!

Glad to hear the pain is subsiding finally. Hang in there my friend...wont be long and we can zip tie a tire on for ya and do some riding! :ride:

I think there is one tree just to the inside of a tight left hander that is lost and should not be there because I was riding exactly where I should be and this tree was in the wrong place. My speed was perfect. :nener:
