Anyone else here have second job? What do you do?

I have been cleaning offices on the side now for about 2 weeks. Just one of those deals, wife is pregnant with our 3rd. She is a stay at home mom and is getting ready to go to school full time and we also need to upgrade to a bigger family transporter. So I have to buckle down and work a second job for a while. No biggie been there before. Its turned out to be a great weight loss program so far anyway.

I've been doing a 550 paper newspaper route for the last 6 years on top of my regular job. 7 days a week, 365 a year. I get up at 3:30 am and I'm done by 6:00 am, then get ready for my regular job. The scary thing is that i have gotten used to this schedule and I don't even need an alarm clock any more. I don't know what I would do if I quit and had just one job. Probably wouldn't be able to sleep. LOL.

You know, now that I think about it some more I'd like to ask a question. How DO you guys maintain such motivation? ( i think i could do it if i had a wife and kids but i don't). Seems to me that people with the right "mojo" will be hard workers whether they have those pressures or not. How do you do it?

I moderate at DRN- oh wait that doesn't pay anything:confused:
I judge hunting Tournaments- again no pay (do it in exchange for birds at a local hunting preserve)
Actually in the winter I work security at a local ski hill -wait that doesn't pay either (I am starting to see a scary trend here). Actually in exchange for 1 night a week I get a family season pass which was a great deal since thekid goes snowboarding 4 times a week (until tonight- he broke his arm at a different hill:ugg: )
I do work other security jobs on occasion, for pay but I have so much else going on I hate to loose that family time.

I have four boys, identical twins age 5.5, middle boy, age 4, and baby boy age 1. My wife stays at home to take care of domestic duties, so I make the paychecks. We don't live extravegantly, but living in California is just plain expensive. So you do what you need to do.

Heck, I haven't even bought myself a bike yet after selling my old IT490 9 years ago. I just bought my boys a 2001 xr50, which wasn't too bad in cost, but the gear for kids is almost as expensive as the adult gear. Good thing people still get their newspapers whether we are in a recession or not. LOL.

I did the working two jobs bit for years, until boy #3 came along. I started up a service business and have loved it.

Before that, I used to clean typewriters, bag groceries, sell H/D trinkets in the mall-these were all p/t jobs in addition to the f/t service tech job I had.
