Brock Sellards out indefinitely

According to a post from his brother Marcus over on www.motonews.com, Team Red Bull/KTM rider Brock Sellards is out for the near future. Here's what Marcus posted over on the Mototalk message board:

"Brock received his blood work back from the doctor on Friday before Glen Helen and got some bad news. The doctor said he said the test was positive for the Epstein Barr virus which is a severe form of mono. We spoke with Jeff Stanton and he said from past experience that Brock would be out most of the summer. This has plagued Brock all season and it was getting frustrating that the doctors kept saying it was a sinus infection and prescription medicine was not helping. Brock decided to try and race the weekend and see how he held up, when he came in from the first moto he said it was that finishing the last lap was the most difficult lap of his life as he couldn't breathe and felt like he was going to pass out. He attempted the second moto but his body shut down about the fourth lap and had to pull off for a DNF. He is flying home to meet with doctors at the university of Pittsburgh to see what can be done to recover as soon as possible, from what I've read there is no medicine or cure except for rest. Persons who over train and do not rest properly and run their body down over a period of time become more susceptible to the virus as their immune system is weak. Brock is now beginning that training too hard and not having proper rest is not a good thing, unfortunately it has caught up with him and he is now paying the price. I'll post more when we know more."

Really sucks for Brock. He really flies when he is on, but this is gonna really set him back. He won an SX this year while being beat up and looked like he might have the speed to do some damage outdoors. Hope he makes it back ASAP.

Mono is mononucleosis, which is an infection common among high-school aged children. It's kinda like a sinus infection. (I think.)

If that's not a joke, I think the sinus infections are more due to dust than exhaust gases.

Mono is an infection that robs your strength and endurance. it makes doing anything much more difficult. some people call it the kissing disease.i got it when i was around 19 or 20 , and now that i think about it , the way ive been riding lately, i think ive had it for the last 10 or 11 years.

I have a sinus problem that I am going to get fixed sometime in August.. It's a specialist appointment that I have been waiting for almost a year now.. It has something to do with a "polly" or "pollup" (not sure of spelling?).. I will get surgery and hopefully I will be able to breath better..

When I was reading through the part about Brock's virus, I freaked out... I hope it's only a sinus problem for me!! :scream:
