shift lever replacement

I need to replace my shift lever on my 96 yz250 and should I use loc tite on the shaft? I notice that the tip has been worn down alittle. Is this normal or do I need to replace the shaft? It doesnt look that bad, its only part of the shaft 3/16 long on the very end.

I would use a little removable LocTite (blue) on the pinch bolt that clamps the shift lever to the shaft, but not on the shaft itself.

I would do like biglou said and not put it on the shaft, but definitely on the bolt/threaded part of the lever.
