Out of all the items I am getting this year the exhaust system is going to be the most "you dont need that" I am getting A Pro Circuit system mainly to have a back up expansion chamber incase I crush it when casing a jump or in a crash.
What is the advantages of running the Shorty silencer versus a stock length. I am looking at the Pro Circuit 304 silencer and the R 304 silencer and I have a 2005 YZ 125.
Originally when I was trying to find out what would give me the most power people directed me to the stock length silencer but now I am thinking maybe I should go back to looking at the Shorty because I am not Bubba and as a Junior looking to move up to Intermeadiate half way through the season I may be at the skill level where the Shorty power characteristics will benefit me more. I believe the shorty provides more bottom and mid but sacrafices some over rev.
I dont race on a Dyno so a good overall improvement in the powerband which makes it easier to go fast with is more important than peak hp numbers but before I call up to change my order I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and that the shorty is the right choice for me.
Im assuming you ride motocross, and I also have a 2005 yz125 and was considering to put a Pro Circuit R 304 Shorty on my ride. As far as I know the shorter silencers are a good idea for motocross but I dont think they make a huge power increse. If you do get the R 304 I would recomend getting the Pro Circuit pipe also because the silencer is built for the pipe and the pipe is built for the silencer. Also the short silencers are not allowed on trails.
i have a pc platinum pipe and a r304 shorty silencer and its a good setup. whatever you do dont get the works pipe after you wash your bike once it will rust even if you put wd40 all over it. the expansion chamber is pretty strong compared to the stock (my stock pipe fell apart in the middle) it has deep dents in it but no holes. oh yea the r304 dosnt sacrifice the over rev it just makes it have that factory sound.
