my clutch plates are over three years old now, should i install new ones? my bike runs and shifts ok, but do you think old plates can rob power off the bottom in particular? i picked up a set of plates off ebay for about 30 bux.

If the clutch is still working fine, you won't gain anything with a new one. I found the best way to notice clutch slippage is in the upper gears, 5 or 6th. Try to load the motor while staying in 5th and going in and out of the powerband. If you hear at some point the rpm going higher than it should...
