Here is the deal. I have a older rm (91) and the air boot is getting worn out :ahhh: . I have had trouble with air leaks for a while and I am getting sick of taking the airbox off to reseal it all the time. Has anyone tried a clamp on K&N on their MX bike. I thought I would get a long boot so I could set, and mount it in the box. Any ideas? Should I even try it?

I don't often ride through rivers or anywhere it could get wet so I am not worried about it not being sealed from water. Also I never pressure wash my bike, it causes more problems than it is worth.

Sounds like a fix, just be sure the back end of the carb is supported or you may find it dangling by the cable on the side of the trail. Have you considered a new boot ?

Yes, but I wasn't sure about where to get one. My local suzuki dealer is crappy, I mean so crappy when I ask for a 35 kehien pilot, they ask me "what bike is that for?" I hate going there and avoid it whenever possible. Do you know of anywhere to get a boot online? Thanks

Just goto another dealer that deals a differnt kind of bike (Yamaha, Honda, Kawisaki). Im sure they would be glad to have you buisness. My suzuki dear sucks, too. Overly expensive, dont know what there talking about, try to rip you off. So theyve missed out on probably close to $600 now, to the local Yamaha dealer.

As long as you maintain your bike you shouldn't have any problem pressure washing your bike like the other 90% of us do.

I just worry about the pressure washer pushing grease out of the linkage, or having some water pushed past my air filter cap when I clean the airbox. I just think it is better to just use a hose at home with a rag and scrub it clean. Plus the car wash doesn't carry simple green!
Also I try to keep on top of my maintenance. The only thing I am behind on is changing my brake fluid...... Just as soon as I buy that mighty vac.

I did this to my wifes ATC 250R, took off the old airbox and clamped on a 2 1/2 piece of conduit with some fire hose to the carb and added the K&N. I just welded a piece of metal on the conduit to the frame for stability, it doesnt go anywhere and kicks ass.
