The Holiday Inn is pretty close (can't remember if it's walking distance or not), and I think a lot of the teams stay there. The price is pretty high, though.

Back in '92 I stayed there and there was a fire alarm at 2am in the morning. I remember standing outside the hotel and seeing Stanton, Bayle, and Team Honda looking pretty grumpy. They wanted some sleep before the race. It ended up being a false alarm.

Two years ago we stayed at the Hampton Inn. It's about a mile away, and has nice rooms at a reasonable price (and free breakfast!). I would recommend the Hampton.

Thanks guys! We want to get something booked by this weekend so hopefully everythings not to full. I wanted something close so we wouldnt have to drive (being responsible) and can have more fun, of course we could always take a cab. There are 3 in my group and i think 5 or 6 in the other. They already have their tickets but i need to order my 3.

Do they usually sell pit passes or are they more of a who you know? Pace has a box for pitpasses but it says to check back later. Just curious as it would be pretty cool. Might as well go all out for my first time! ;)

Thanks!

Anything on Opdyke will be very close to the silverdome. I don't think there are any crappy ones in that particular area. After the race, go north on Opdyke till you see a huge restaurant/bar called "Big Bucks". There will be a bunch of supercross people in there. Last year we spotted Lusk (i think), Sellards, Chad Watts, and some others. The hotel next to Big Bucks will be full of the factory rigs.

Thanks! We found 3 on Opdyke with 1 being booked solid and one way pricey. Looks like we may end up at the Mariott Residence with a suite. Not bad pricing compared to the others and only 3.7 miles from the Silverdome.

Thanks for the heads up on "Big Bucks". We'll have to check it out after the race if the gang doesnt have something else planned.

Hey Tree Jumper - I think Red and I are gonna go up for the Pontiac SX and race the amateur day on Sunday, too. Maybe we'll have to check out "Big Bucks" too - given that we get enough sleep to race on Sunday at the same time

Nikki, that would be cool! What time are your races sunday? I just missed your race at Steel City last fall. Only plans on Sunday were to visit Tropicorium out by the airport (open 12-5) which is an hour from the Silverdome and on my way home. I'll look for ya!
