I went riding in the snow this week and it was some of the best riding that I have done. I was curious if there were others in the UP that also enjoyed riding in the snow. If so I would like someone to ride with that may know the trails a little better than me. I am in Houghton/Hancock area if anyone is interrested. Also I am thinking about using screws in my tires rather than buying studded tires, how well does this work? Is it worth the time of putting the screws in?

I always tell this funny story about my first ice riding experience. I was about fifteen years old and I decided to ride my '76 KD175 on the lake. I went to the hardware store and bought every package of 1/2 inch hex heads they had. It was not near enough though so I figured I would just do the rear tire until I could get some more screws. Talk about ill-handling! I must have fallen down a hundred times!

I plan on studding up my tires and making a little TT track (but without the jump) out on my lake. It builds great inner thigh muscles and teaches you how to handle slick corners.
