Make sure the jetting is right usually you go richer. and every thing in your suspension is greased.
Also make sure the bike is warmed-up before you ride.
Riding in the snow is easier on the bike than the mud. Just make sure your running antifreeze at the proper mixture. Jetting usually needs to be richer. Definitely make sure you let the bike warm-up you ride as was already mentioned.
It's a good idea to add a little isopropil alcohol to your fuel. It will help in keeping your carb from icing up, if you have a lot of snow dust.

Aslo make sure that u are familar with the area that u are riding at.........I was riding in the snow and went into a 3 foot deep puddle of ice/mud/water that i didn't know was there. and let me tell u, it was cold!
