I'm thinkin about gettin another bike, and going 4 stroke this time. I like the wr250, but now I see the ttr250 so whats the difference. Is one cheaper, better for trails, smaller, what is it. Thanks for any help. :yeehaw:
The WR is a higher end bike with a more powerful engine better suspension, etc. The ttr looks more like a play bike while the WR is a serious machine. The WR uses a higher tech liquid cooled engine while the ttr is a lower tech air cooled one. The WR is more expensive, but its a much nicer motorcycle. :thumb:
Those bikes are two totally different animals, the wr is a leopard, while the ttr is a goat. The ttr is a heavy trail only bike which is lacking in the power department, but is dependable and cheap. The wr has a lot more get up and go, but is substantially more $ and would suit an experienced rider well.
As said before, the TTR is a trail bike. It's most at home with both wheels on the ground. The WR will hop, jump, and wheelie whenever you want, and isn't afraid of big air. I would use the TTR with e-start to mark (arrow) a trail in the woods, but I'd want the WR to actually ride the trail. The TTR is heavy and relatively low powered. Great for messing around and having fun on moderate terrain. The extra weight is not a good thing going down a slipery hill, and the weight and low power are a double hit in climbing anything steep and technical (its the opposite of a trials bike). I think that a much better bike for the money is the new Honda CRF230. Only 235 pounds, e-start, and from the recent test in REV magazine, it handles better than the XR250, is lighter, and close in power. Worth looking at.
I've heard about the crf230, whens it coming out, and what kind of price tag will be on it. Also I've heard it could be a little small is this true, or is it the same as the wr250, thanks.
