i need to get the Left crankcase welding and was wondering If I need to remove all the components from the right side of case to be able to remove the left half. such as clutch n idler gear, start asm etc. Or can i just un bolt the left and split it?

What bike?

You shouldn't need to remove the kickstarter shaft or idler gear. You'll have to do the obvious things like the clutch basket, shifter shaft, and counterbalancer (if it has one).

If it were me I'd remove everything and inspect/polish, clean parts and have the main/rod bearings serviced.

While it's best to remove everything and inspect for damaged or worn parts, in a pinch, you can remove just the left case, leaving everything intact in the right case.

Check his other post about the piston....He's got an 02 that he's had for a year. I'd do a total rebuild if I had the cases split.
