In loading and unloading my KDX, I noted a sqeeking noise emanating the rear wheel. I assume that its a wheel bearing. I havent changed one since having done so on my then new 1996 XR400. I assume there isnt any speacial tool to carry out the repair.

Bad wheel bearings do not squeak....they rumble.
I'm betting that IndyMX is right on this one.

So noted on the origins of the squeak. I'll check the pads and rotor tonight. But since the issue of wheel bearings came up, how often do you folks replace yours, given the absence of of a "rumble" or grinding like sound?

I only replace them when they need to be replaced. Too much of a PITA to do without needing it.

But, I do clean and lube every time I have a wheel off.

Thank you. I forgot thats one of the basic do's and donts of inspecting a used bike; Shake the front and back wheels side to side and see if there is any play
