Anyone from there or familiar with the area?

Need some ideas on what neighborhoods are decent.
Not too close to the city but within reasonable driving distance if you work there.

All I have to go by is this map: http://www.stltoday.com/neighborhoods
But there are aprox. 20 neighborhoods within each county. Kind of hard to tell which ones would be worth looking at if you are unfamiliar with the area.

TTRGuy and I will be flying out there in a couple of weeks to check out his potential office and the surrounding area. Any help as to what to check out would be welcome. Thanks.

Although Eddie has been working temporarily in Victorville, the company that he is contracted with is based in St. Louis. They want to offer him a permanent position when this project is completed. He hasn't accepted yet. We're going to check it out but without any other offers currently on the table he doesn't see how he can turn it down. :(

It's quite possible this socalli girl is gonna turn into a popcicle!! :scream: I don't even own a coat or even a thick sweater! I'm gonna have to run out and stock up on mittens, scarves, arctic gear.......... ;)

There are some pros to the possibility of moving, they're about even with the cons though. ;)
A cost of living that is a fraction of the cost of living here certainly is desirable.

Hey You can get outside the city a little ways, say south, in the rolling hills, pick upabout a hundred acres for what dinner cost there, have us all over for a weekend trail clearing.

Really, I haven't spent any time there, just passing through.

:silly: NOT helping.

I have been told to avoid the West side of St. Louis. It looks to me like that leaves Madison County, St. Clair County and Monroe County. Hey there’s a neighborhood called “Pontoon Beach” in Madison County. :)

Lou, you ass clown!!!

Stay away from the East Side!!!! Believe me, East St. Louis is not the place to be. Lou likes to hang out there because, well, that is where Lou's type hang out. You don't want to hang out with that type! He lives in Belton for crying out loud! :p

or Alaska or Antartica or the North Pole!! :scream: What difference does that make it's still gonna be a major shock to someone who is used to 60+ year round! Heck Santa Barbara isn't even warm enough for me, Mexico is perfect. :)

Shoot, maybe I got that mixed up, maybe it was the East side..... or the South side.... :think shoot, or are you guys just messing with me? :debil:

Buwhahaha!
Speedy, south of St.Louis is pretty sweet country (I'm being serious). And just think, we can stop and see ya every year as we go thru on the way to OK. :p

You'll love the amount of house you'll be able to get.

More house just means more for TTRGuy to clean! :p Although there we might just be able to afford "people" to do that sort of stuff. ;) Dang, too bad AJ got his own place, I hear he's cheap. :debil:
I don't care about house size, but property would be nice. Gotta have somewhere to put the cow. :) Eddie put his foot down about keeping it in the garage. :(

If TTRGuy had his way we probably would. He would prefer to be in Kansas City than St. Louis but that is not where the job is.

Cool, you guys finally updated your website! Nice home page pic. ;)

You will most likely be amazed at how much you can snag land for in this state compared to Cali. Land, houses etc are much more affordable in Missouri compared to the over populated West. Mom and Pop farms are for sale everywhere due to the bigger operations taking over..this leaves great land w/older fixer upper type homes for purchase. Also, you have great riding areas in almost every direction from St.Louis w/o traveling more than 3hours or so...a barn for the SuperX would be great...just make sure Thunder and Lou don't see the sheep! They take the velcro gloves with them everywhere they go. Happy house hunting..hope the deal works out for you two. Jason

Hey go....

My wife is from Crestwood. It's a nice area on the southwest side. Lots of new development (read shopping malls) there especially toward Fenton. It's not really expensive compared to the rest of middle class St. Louis. There is a local riding area that we frequent called St. Joe. You should check it out if you are going to be out there.

I seriously doubt any house buying plans are in the immediate future. We would be renting. Preferably a house with some land. I have a large dog. She's gonna freak. She's never even seen snow!

Crestwood, I'll check it out. :)

Sorry Speedy,
Haven't been on in a few days (gasp!).
Go to ESL for 'adult ' entertainment and nothing else. West is best (if you ever get lost). Lots of good areas around. Housing is reasonable. It's 55 degrees here right now, but that's a little unusual. Check your PM for my phone number...
