Even since the day we brought the bike home from the dealer it was alwas tough to keep running when cold. Any thoughts?

turn your idle up and dont let it sit until its warm ( unattented and not on the throttle, is my definition of unattended ). and its also a fact...ALL thumpers are hard to keep running when cold.

My sons 01 XR-70 is very cold blooded also. It doesn't pay to try to get it moving before its ready.:)

ok, thanks for the reply. my 86 xr250 stay's running when it's cold though. but it's very broken in to say the least. we'll just keep the idle up during warm up on the kids bike. thanks again

my xr 80 is the same way. When warming the bike, put it in neutral, and slowly increase and decreast the throttle. (vroom.....vroom.....vroom) With the choke on. After 30 seconds or so, slowly move the choke off while doing the vroom thing. If the bike begins to die, quickly open up the choke.It can take up to 3-4 minutes to get the bike idiling nicely.
