How difficult was it to install? I see a lot of excessive slag around the steering head. A little grinding might be in order, no?

You can order a mounting kit that bolts on with a clamp on pin. My kit came with a weld on pin. I read where some of the guys were having problems with the clamp style comming loose so I figured it would be better. The weld on pin mounts on the backbone of the frame and was clear of other welds.

I have had the bolt on kit on two KDX's and has never budged even after wrecks. The thing about a Stabilizer is .... if it saves just one trip to the hospital... it has paid for itself. And it has saved me from plenty!

No grinding on my install. I had to align the pin (bend the bracket with a pipe :yikes: )about 1/8 inch to line up like the instructions said it should. That was the only complication. Easy just do it.

I am not going to enter the debate as to which damper is better. In fact I am almost sure Scotts is better for the serious/competition rider, but I love my WER damper. It is easy to mount even for a novice and it is located down out of the way "on" the front fender. Yes, for us poor people, it can be bought for a good bit less than a Scotts. A damper enhances your safety of ride. Cheers John

I agree with what John Harris said. The Scotts damper is awesome. My brother and dad both have one, and they are great. I have the WER damper because it was on my bike when I got it. I love the thing. The only real difference, other than price, is that the Scotts is much more adjustable. I recently had to rebuild my WER unit (5 years old) and WER was awesome to deal with. Either way you go, the damper is by FAR the best improvement you can make for performance and safety. Good luck!

Another WER here. It's less adjustable, but I'm a "set it and forget it" kind of guy anyway. I like the way the WER mounts low, it's cheaper, and I like the mount to frame arrangement. I'm positive mine has saved me several times, mostly is slick wet rocks, mud, sand, loose dry dirt, um....
