I am SO SICK of being teased about my sexual preferences in reference to my choice of hobbies! One more joke about being a "dyke on a bike" and I'll go nuts. A friend and I were talking about first impressions and he said that if he saw a bunch of women with dirt bikes he'd make the assumption that they were gay.
WTF do motorcycles have to do with lifestyle preferences?
(I'm trying to be as PC as possible on a non-PC subject)

I don't know but when I see women on dirtbikes I think "Hey... they like to do it in the dirt!!" :p

I got beat by a lady in the Unlimited class quite regularly last year. I remember thinking as she past me... I gotta get faster. I never cared about the gender... it was just the person in front of me that i had to catch in order to improve one position.

Sheeesh....Maybe CJ, me, and Sarah will be called dykes this weekend! LOL

Never ridden with just a bunch of ladies before....maybe guys will have a different impression then if it's a mixed-sex group out riding together...

I've always been out with John and lots of other guys have told him that they're jealous his girlfriend rides a dirt bike and they wish their girlfriends would ride....but they never say that in front of me, of course! :silly:

{going out on a limb here, silly mode} I would think that riding a motorcycle is an indication that we LIKE.... ah ...well....having a....<cough, cough> well, you know :o

When I see a woman on a dirt bike, I get scared. Scared I might get beat!! Or fall in love!

Keep riding, who cares what others think. Try to align yourself with people that give you constant support.

No sense riding with someone that ticks you off.

Keep riding.

I got beat by a lady . . .
Ivan, I worry about you . . . Oh, on a dirt bike! ;)

Hey, we have some fast chicks over here too. I don't care if they're gay or straight, just as long as they enjoy riding.

I get tired of people thinking I'm a beer-guzzlin' redneck just because I have a gunrack in the ol' Predmobile. I may be one, but I get tired of people thinkin' it!

I don't think that thought has EVER crossed my mind when I see a woman riding a bike. The first thought is usually, I wish I could get my gf out on a bike.

Now, if I see a couple of girls with short hair, driving in a Subaru Forrester I'd make the assumption that they enjoy more than each other's company....

WTF?

Dykes on bikes?

Man, have I lived a sheltered life!

Actually, I can’t envision any of the lesbians I have had the pleasure to meet getting anywhere near a dirt bike. For some reason, I always picture them riding horses………AND DON’T ASK ME WHY! LOL!

I agree with jharmon. Who cares what the others think, and along with this thought on getting beat or falling in love, I have a special weakness for a woman that drives a pickup too. My only thought is that is she really cute, or is it the truck and comparing her truck to mine. If we dated she would probably have a nicer vehicle than me!

I'm sorry you had this experience FC, it's a shame that some people's ignorance and bigotry have to blemish such a great sport and trouble a person as nice as yourself.

Thinkin about Pred's remark and made me wonder about myself. My house IS on wheels, just got rid of car that should have been on blocks. My pickup costs more than my house, I dip Copenhagen and am trying to quit and own more pairs of cowboy/workboots than any other type of footwear. Does that mean I'm a red...... aww, hell! Yup, I'm a redneck. :silly:

When I get passed by someone I assume to be a girl, I just say to myself "hey, that was probably a guy, long hair does not mean it's a female, right?". Then I think, "Wait a minute, why did I just check out his/her butt, that don't make me weird or something does it?"

 So a bunch of guys hanging around together riding and some time rolling around in the dirt is OK but bring a girl into the mix and SHE'S the one that's not right? I really like Gomer, Ivan, TwinSpar, Oldguy, Thump, BigLou, Billywho, PapaK, Lorin, and the list goes on and on but I'd MUCH rather have a few girls in the mix so that outsiders don't get the wrong impression that were a gay biker gang or something. "The Tighty Wearin' Homos" was once a name we were referred to as.....

FC just tell the people giving you a hard time that your friend "Pat" is a raging lesbian, you wouldn't be lying. ;)

Well I know some VERY good girl riders... One is a right now at the National Trials in North Texas. The other races a KX100 in Alaska. Both girls are tons better then I am... Nothing to worrie about...

FC22, are these riders or non riders calling you names? They might just be pissed off that you are a smart, beautiful, skilled rider. Some people would be very threatend by that.
