That's ok--I used to drive a lifted F150, wear boots/Wranglers/Carhart coat, listen to country, ride horses, etc.

I still miss that truck--but not the horses! I think my KTM is smarter!

I know that here on DRN you guys all know better. It was a non rider who made the comment but I know his opinion is shared by many. He doesn't think I am a dyke (unless he's daydreaming . . . what is it with the men and the multiple women daydream? As if any of them could handle it in real life!) But he did say that that is what he would think if he saw a bunch of women together with bikes. It was in reference to me talking about planning a riding trip with a bunch of female friends.

But I just fail to see the connection. Oh well. Each to their own--I prefer men myself.

LWilson, thank you for the kind thought, but I'm neither beautiful or a skilled rider--but thanks for the compliment.

I'm not sure why! Over the years, I have met a couple girls ("girls who like girls") who were into horses, NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!

I think ladies and dirt bikes are a perfect pairing. I love them both!

Of course, I could just be a lesbian trapped in a man's body!

At Budd's Creek on Sunday, I was sitting next to my friend I had come with (were both VERY city people). A guy walked by and I said "Look, he has a mullet!", then I turned around and basically everyone did...

Instead of getting pissed about this narrow-minded bull**** attitude, feel sorry for the dud(e) and especially any woman he's involved with (or been).

He's obviously never realised the turn of the century has been & gone, not to mention the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's. Pity you can't introduce Bbbom to him, she would blow his mind (no loss - no smart-ass comments either, read it in the context it's meant lol).

No offense FC, but I think you need to find some new friends to hang out with! Anyone that narrow-minded to make snap judgements like that sounds like a l-o-s-e-r.

Then again, he may be saying it because he likes getting a reaction out of you. Just ignore him, and maybe he'll go away!

The last flame by FC22 that I replied to got pretty heated and then locked. FWIW, all types of bigotry is ignoranance. As Forrest Gump would say, "Stupid is what Stupid does". Now that's all I have to say about that.

I havent met any ladies in person that ride bikes yet... thought never crossed my mind that they would have to be gay to ride dirt bikes... :|
I HOPE that isnt true, for my wife keeps bugging me to get her a TTR125L, so that makes her gay I guess....??? LOL...
.
From the pixs I have seen around here of the female riders, I would think they are pretty far from being gay, but if they are, thats there preference.
.
Keep riding FC22 and throw some roost on those toolboxes that make those comments. :)

firecracker, funny that gals who ride are thought to be gay and the same is thought of guys who don't! Humans are a funny breed, BTW were those guys who you just smoked on the trail that called you a dike? maybe alittle male insecurity?
My only reaction to a woman on a bike is to wonder if I can keep up or if they are having as much fun as I am.

Hey motohead as a recovering redneck myself I gotta ask , has anyone in your family ever died right after saying "hey watch this"?

Hey, is this any different from a good looking guy blowing off advances by a girl, and then her saying it must be because he is gay  ;) , or have the ladies never sat together and rated the guys who walk by, or guess their status, gay, single, married, hot, cold, fat, funny etc :)

If this guy just thinks this about a bunch of girls riding together, then he is truly bigoted.

Now, if he was hitting on you, or any other female rider and got the brush off, probably a knee jerk reaction.

As a passing comment, probably said in jest, maybe just done to get you worked up :)

Now, I can just picture my first meeting with any of you gals, especially BBBOM. If she had no idea who I was, and I knew who she was, I probably would start off with an oh my gosh comment about a girl on a dirt bike, followed up with a dyke on bike insinuation, and then finish of with something about her being in construction, and when she is about to explode finish off with a blond joke - ow :scream:

. what is it with the men and the multiple women daydream? As if any of them could handle it in real life!)

I personally never had this dream would seriously be offended if I had a relationship with 2 girls<or more> that found out they had more fun with each other than with me. talk about shattering the frail male ego :o

I like watching women ride ..... I like watching women!!!!

I believe all should be equal <race gender does not matter but somebody will alway be better than me at something and something I will be better at that others> and the right to pursue happiness< not gauranteed anything woth having is worth working and/ or fighting for>. but I am a male chauvinistic pig . I believe in the difference of the sexes

I believe a man should be a better worker than a woman because of his tunnel vision . talk to a guy when reading the newspaper , his reply " huh? what?" talk to a guy if he is working on something....." huh what? didja say something"

but a woman should be a better boss becasue of the ability of multi tasking even in the old days of "housewives"....... " honey I need you to take out the trash and cut the lawn" . To the kids" you go wash that off right now ,you get your homework done" while changing a diaper and cooking dinner < now there is something I woudl never want to see a tunnel vison male screw up> all at the same time!
as I am writing this I know most of the women in this community are probably better riders than me while I am home trying to play Mr. Mom/house husband does that make me a hypocrite  I think not because I am not talking about physical/strength attributes or what one enjoys for recreation I was talking about how the mind/ soul and heart differences of the two genders. take a 200lb man who has been riding a 500 for a couple of years and then take a 100 lb woman who has never ridden andput her on a 500, or a 200 lb woman who has been riding to a 100 lb man , 200 lb man to a 100 lb man , 200 lb woman to a 100lb woman who are going to see the same results either way.

to the unknowing observer dirt biking males are ecology shattering, rough housing, brutes. a moniker you wouldn't normally give women so they attack there sexuality becasue they have no clue< like I actually do>

Bundu dahling, that would never happen! I have never been one to get upset about what someone's opinion of me is, mainly because I really don't care. The scenarios above are all actually quite common except the part about me getting upset. I don't get mad, I'm very amused by it.

I've had many people comment that women shouldn't ride and especially what I ride! :scream: Oh well, watch me go.

I've also been through enough introductions in my career where I could certainly tell that I was not expected to know anything about the project at hand. Nothing is more fun than proving that one wrong except then they always call me for information and I hate talking to subs.

Guess that's what my mother means when she comments that I've never given a damn what anyone else thinks - she's right and I hope my daughter grows up the same way.

BTW, I love blonde jokes. Bet I know more than you do too. :p :aj:

jmics1067 you are cracking me up!!! :moon:

Wow, lots of replies. Thank you all for the kind comments. I guess our society just pisses me off sometimes. I've worked as a parts counterperson in a car parts store for 2 years, and you would not believe the things I heard there. I don't see why it's such a big deal that women might like to do something not traditionally a "girl thing."

Negative comments regarding race, creed, color, religion or sexual preference are simply sign of insecurity. In reality, FC, the idiots who made the comment were probably jealous.

You got it wrong FC22 - don't let it get you. Use it to your advantage.

I think I've done what I've done in my life mainly because someone told me I couldn't or shouldn't.

I can't even count how many times I heard people say that women don't belong in construction or that I couldn't run a job on my own - WRONG. It isn't worth discussing with them, it's better to just go ahead & prove them wrong. Even in volleyball, the coach at Idaho told me there was no way I could make the team at ASU when I decided to move to Phoenix and try out for the team. Well, I did.

I guess for me, the resistance has always been a great motivation for accomplishing whatever it is I wanted to do.
