Yes. My old one (1990 200) used to be legally registered in NJ.

Depends first and foremost if you can get it registered. Once you have plates, all that is left is inspection...which is what you need all the extra junk for like horn, signals, etc.

If you can't get plates for it due to the title or your local DMV's, then it won't do much good to go through the conversion and spend all that money on parts that will otherwise get in your way. This is all assuming that you care to go the legal route, of course :D

Try and get it registered first before bothering with all the stuff that will get it to pass inspection....you do have a title to do this with, don't you? If so, then the first step is to call your insurance company...in NJ they will not register your bike without an insurance policy number first..... I think. Then you go try and register and get plates. That is the toughest part for a 2 stroke KDX style bike. Inspection is easy, anyone can rig up brake lights, mirrors and a speedo and the rest of the junk that you might need...horn, turn sigrnals, etc. Baja Desgins probably even makes a kit for it if you want to spend a bunch but make it easy....

Good luck. You live in a tough state to do this.

In New York, they look for an Odometer reading on the back of the Certificate of Origin. My bike was purchased in New Jersey and the dealer did write the odometer milage in that area of the certificate. Long story short-My 220 is registered as a MC not an ATV. Good Luck
