Street legal big bore light weight woods bike.

I currently ride a street legal 1994 Husky 360 that I really like. The bike is old and I have been milking it along for some time now. It has been replacement time for years.

Anyway, the old Husky is fast, agile, and comfortable. Everything I have ridden just does not measure up in some area or another. Most modern 450 4 strokes cannot touch the Husky and a KTM525 comes closest. Even the mighty CR500 is the same overall power as the Husky.

So what street legal (or easy to register) bike is available that fits my needs. I guess the CR500AF in street legal form is really what I want. But next to that what do you suggest?

How about a ktm exc 300 or 380? I've been wanting to get a dual sport kit for my exc for a while. I think it would be a great combo.

If you like the 94 husky that much, you'd love the 02 360. Same motor, better EVERYWHERE else. I was gonna buy a new one (yep, been there 3 years now) but found a used that worked out good. If you want new, call Donelson Cycles in St. Louis. I was gonna try and keep that new bike a secret til I figured this used one would work. The auto decomp head works so good I was able to start it sitting on the seat talking on the cell phone. That'd be the best mod you could get for it. You'll never get a new bike with a seat like your old one though. Good luck.

I know a modern bike is better, Just that in so many ways modern enduro bikes do not measure up. The KTM380 is a great bike and would be my first choice if I could find a new one. Also, the KTM's only have a 5 speed. Kinda restricts my high speed days.

The Husky seat had a block of styrofoam inside! I put CR500 aftermarket seat foam on it. Very comfy.

Well, OK. I called Service Honda and spoke with them about the bike. It really does come close to fitting my needs. Those guys are really nice and quite helpful. It is a fantastic thing to be able to order a custom bike. I have never had any experience doing this and I am really liking the idea. They even want to work with me to get a title. I am hoping to be able to get one street legal (in a hard core dirt bike kind of way).

Well here in Florida it is very hard to register a dirt bike of any sort. There is no provision to dual sport one that I have been able to find. As a matter of fact, I can say that without some miracle there is no way you will be able pull off a Florida registration on a bike that says "Not for highway use, off road use only" on the MSO.

What Service Honda has suggested is a title from Illinois or nearby state. I would then bring the normal title and the bike to motor vehicle for a vin check. I would hope to be able to register the thing then. However I must make sure before I buy the thing. I cannot use a bike without a registration, as it is required for where I ride.
