Hey guys,

does anyone have a clue on removing a stuck dowel pin in a CR80 cylinder??? The top half that protrudes out of the cylinder is no longer there from me twisting and clamping down on the thing.

I figure I need to bring it to a machinist to be drilled out. Any other options?

Thanks!
John

Hindsight being a lovely thing -a bit of localised heat & some penetrating oil may have helped, but you have given your answer in your question.

Pete Payne of Heavy Duty Racing in Virginia showed me a trick. Try inserting a tapered punch in the center of the alignment pin, then clamp around the pin with a vise grips, I also use a pencil shaped rotary burr in a drill to slice down the length of the inside of the pin so it caves in and falls out.
Either way you'll need to buy a new pin. They'll work with just 1 pin installed, no worries, good luck, Eric
