Looks like I'll be sitting it out for a while....
My little crash at Southern Star MX this last weekend netted me a fractured hand bone. :(

I got X rays today, and now it is on to the Orthopedic Dr. where I will find out how long I am off the bike.

FWIW - I said it was a bicycle accident because I am sick of these insurance bozos dicatating our lifestyle decisions. The X-ray technician asked me how I hurt it, and I calmly said it was a bicycle accident. She quipped "Good thing it wasn't a motorcycle." :|

I bit my tongue b/c I wanted to give her a piece of my mind.... But I had to remember the "code of silence".

Picture of the hand X-ray is attached.

Add to that the ~377 bucks in damage to the bike and I will tell you that stupid hurts the wallet too. For those not in the know about the riding experience I am taling about read on here:

Next time if I am feeling a bit sketchy, I'll roll the sucker and hit it right the next lap. :o

I never tell them how I got injured, wheather it is on my mountain bike or dirt bike. I always say I had a confrintation with gravity and it won, if they presist, I was walking fell down and got hurt. Got to keep the code no matter what.

Jeff I hate to be the barer of bad news but I broke that one as well as the metatorsel in the foot. They still hurt to this day at certain times. If they want you in therapy please go. I didn't and I am sorry for it now. Colder days and long rides seem to bring back the pain train. Sorry for your injury, Get well soon. :thumb:

"Fighters break/fracture" Looks like ya' did it up right! I have done that one a few times, it's reasonably fast to heal in the grand scheme of broken parts but I'll be yours gets a pin. If they don't pin it I'll bet you can ride in about 3 or 4 weeks if you really want to. Heck if they pin it your good to go right? ;)

That's no set back. Since it's on your right hand you can take the spring off the throttle and use the clutch to control speed. :p
Heal up Manerd!

Thump - too funny. Good thing I have dexterity in my left hand as well!

Here is the deal - Fiberglass / plaster cast for 3 weeks, then a brace for 3 more weeks after.

The bone was snapped and at a 45 degree angle. They numbed me up and got it back to 12 degrees. I'm OK with that. Beats surgery by a long shot.

Now if I can just avoid giving myself a black eye if I have to rub an eye that is itchy!

I got my hand caught in a log splitter at 15 and broke several metacarpals in my left hand. They are fine, now. The last one is a little shorter where they took out what I powdered in the middle, but it works fine.
