Check for an air leak between the carb and cylinder. If it is slow to return to idle or surging when you let off of the gas, the idle is probably set too high.

I'm sure others will chime in with more info-

your bike is lean on the pilot try turning in hte air screw
other thing could if thats not the case air leak as stated above (crank seals)

could be a dirty or over oiled filter too. what i notice is with my winter jetting as soon as the filter starts to get a bit dirty the bike will hunt for idle.

change the filter with a known clean and properly oiled one and its back to normal.

Believe it or not but my surging was caused by a mis-routed throttle cable. With the handlebars turned to the left it would surge. I spent 3 hours trying to figure this out. Probably not your case but just sharing my experience.
