Suspension on older bikes vs. newer bikes.

I haven't ridden many bikes before, particularly racing bikes. The main thing I want to know is how the suspension on the motocross bikes built between 84-89 compares to the suspension on bikes built between 90-95. I've already decided on a 250. What I am trying to decide on now is what year to look for. I am fairly heavy(210), and not very tall(5'6). I am willing to adapt to a bike that is too tall for me, but I don't want a bike with suspension that is too soft.

Bman,
The first group is pretty bad.. The quality was poor and they had lots of issues. The factories really figured alot out after 91-93... Today if you remove your midvalves, CVs, and blaaders then you have about a 1992 fork. So beileve it or not many suspension companines turn modern componets into these types of suspension.

Jer
