Suthern Spodefest (April 27-29) NEW THREAD

At Wrench's urging, I have started a new thread for the spodefest to eliminate any confusion. The fest will be a gathering at Monster Mountain (http://www.monstermountain.com) from April 27 - 29). The owner has given us a price break ($10/day instead of $15/day). Both the Monster track and the vintage track will be open, as will the trails which are normally closed. Camping is allowed (primitive). There is a hose setup for washing bikes and the owner doesn't care (and won't charge us) if we hook up a pressure washer (if someone brings one). Porta potties are a plenty. Five minutes to downtown Tallassee which has lots of fast food and the like. Nearby bike shops can be found from the MM link above.

I'm going to be there and if you remind me I will bring my pressure washer. It takes the same gas as my bike :)

Probably show up Friday night and stay through late Sunday.

If all possible, I will be there along with my riding buddy :). I won't know for sure until it gets closer. If I can't find a babysitter for my son (4 yrs) I'll just have to bring him with me. He would love it anyway. Hope to make it and finally meet some fellow DRN'S.

Me and seven of my friends (cr seth kdxghostrider bartman) are coming from mississipi. Leaving friday. Lemming will the hare scramble course be open too?

thebird - Some of the HS course will be open as will other trails. There is one section that the owner leases for HSs that may or may not be open depending on how many DNRers show up.

I doubt that we will be able to jump from the trails to the track in race mode, simply because that requires you to cross the parking area. Since there will be others using the track on the weekend (they will be having open practice), we won't be able to do whatever we want.

Biscuit-I'm planning on camping the entire time. Since I don't have a portable shower, I'd suggest that you camp upwind of me :o

A non-event, because I am not a sanctioning body, nor do I provide insurance. It just so happens that a bunch of people who read DRN may show up to ride a Monster Mountain that weekend. I'm sure that some spontaneous events will break out over the weekend.

Come on down, the more the better. I will be a MM from Friday morning until close on Sunday.

I will be there along with Porkchop. Needless to say after last year sleeping in the van and freezing my #$@ off I too will be pulling a Richie Rich. Ah, the thought of a hot shower and a some what comfortable bed after a long day of riding.

Kawboy, where are you on the list? If you need a ride, I am working on getting a new trailer, sorry to hear about your problems with your trailer this weekend. I should have the trailer within the next couple of weeks. Porkchop said that he would drive, upon the purchase of said trailer. Therefore, you have no excuesses for missing this year.

BTW, any one know of a decent hotel/motel that is close by? Checking out mapquest doesn't produce a lot of options, although they do list a casino that is 18 miles away, yea right, Bilouxi is right around the corner. Hmm, is the craps table open? :D :D

I will probably sleep under the stars in the back of my truck. I will bring a tent just in case :)

The JawJa boys will be there in force! I've recruited a couple more guys who can't wait to get there. Sort of reminiscent of the camp fire scene in the movie "Blazing Saddles". Ah, to know them is to know enough to stay up wind. Let the fun begin. By the way, what are the odds Piglet stays on the front of Ivan's Pig all weekend? Exactly how long will it take Gomer to dump his CR and get poked before he can recover? What would happen if the Artic Rodent awoke one morning to find the zipper stitched closed on his tent? Arctic Rodents do not sleep in tents, we burrow and we certainly do not need hotels. If you are going to wuss out and rent a room, go to the Monster website (http://www.monstermountain.com), I believe they give hotel information (Hotel Tallassee is nearby, but I have no idea if it is good or not).

Ivan, new suspenders? You still won't be able to keep up to the GG. Is roasted piglet good?

Lemming, believe it or not that is his name, he has two brothers with semi-normal names, his dad must have been taking a little something about the time he was hatched. BTW, are you working on a new Gomer stick, mine is almost ready, still trying to work out the kinks with the auto retract feature. You may want to define, for wrench, just what is in an Alabama mudhole. He just may want to rethink his options.

Since rodents burrow and do not need a hotel, hmm what is that smell :p Where is everybody, Wrench do we need to send out a search party for these guy’s?
