I have the chance to buy a RM 250 for $300.00 The reason for the cheap price is the sudden drop in compression. The bike had so much compression before, it was hard to start. He had to push start it or pull it and put it in 3rd gear and pop the clutch. So my question is could the exhaust valve be stuck or damaged? And if so is it easy to determine without a major engine tear down? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Mike

What year? That would help us a bit. If the valve is stuck open, that may do it. They get gunked up alot if not maintained.

My 1995 RM250 would brake my foot if I kicked it ov er with shoes on. Heaps of compression, they have two rings.
Whip the barrel off and inspect the bore. Cross check with manual specs and go for it. Sounds cheap :-)
