Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, so please bear with me if I seem a little slow at the mark.

I am literally in the process of finalising a deal for an RM250 (absolutely lovely looking bike), but before I do "seal the deal" I am hoping you good folk on here can enlighten me to the year of the bike.

It was stated to me by the seller it is a 2006 model, after doing some research and some digging the images of the bike don't appear (to me) that of a 2006 - I have FaceTime'd with the seller for proof the bike exists and looks like the images which I can confirm they do.

I have asked for the chassis number to which the seller gave me: JS1RJ18A000501211

After reading how to decode the chassis number, it appears to not resemble any year with the 10th digit being 0 (zero)
  • I have tried various online vin decoders to which only one came up with any results - en(dot)vindecoder(do)pl/JS1RJ18A000501211 - how genuine and true this is I can't be sure.
  • I have contacted Suzuki Bikes UK and it doesn't appear on their database - perhaps an import?
  • I have asked the seller and to their knowledge from the dealer they purchased it from it is a 2006 model
Any help and information before I part with my money would be greatly appreciated, I've attached some images of the bike (apologies for the low res)

1. If they purchased it new, don't they have any receipts, bill of sale, title? The manual?
2. Zero and even "Q" is generally not used in VIN / serial numbers to avoid confusion with the letter "O" (oh)
3. There is something wrong with the number the seller gave you.
Thanks for replying....

1. It wasn't purchased new but more from another seller / dealer (I have asked the question re: any docs at all)
2. From what I have read online I'm also led to believe this.
3. This has been my concern, I have also mention this to the seller to which they have supplied a photo of the chassis number stamped. (attached)
