Hi guys!
I`m working on a 2000 Suzuki TSX 50 (I know it`s not a true dirtbike but I know you guys can help me so why not post here:).
The bike start and somewhat runs at idle, when I rew it, it sometimes rews and sometimes just hesitates, it also backfires sometimes, sometimes when I blip the throttle it just slowly seems to die.
I`ve checked the cylinder/carburator/float level/crank seals (mag side IS ok, no signs of oil on the spark plug so I figure the clutch side seal is OK), I`ve also tried different sparkplugs.
I think the problem is the coil.
I measured the resistance:
Primary coil: 4,6 Mega ohms (WAY to much right?).
Secondary coil: 5,6 Kilo ohms
However measuring the primary coil was a bitch, sometimes it seemed like it was an open circuit because I didn`t get any readings.
Oh, the values are measured directly on the coil, without the sparkplug wire/cap.
Right now I`m trying to obtain some technical information on the ignition system, but I bet coil resistance are somewhat are somewhat alike on 12V bikes.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me an oppinion on this one:).
Thanks
Joakim, Norway
