hay everybody i'm new to dirt bikes and just bought me a xr250. the owners manual says to use a tachometer to set the idle. is it necessary and where can i get one if it is.my boss says they have something that you just put by the spark plug wire and if works off of sound?

Congrats I love my xr250r If you have any questions about the xr email me at [email protected] To set the idle just fire the bike up and get it all warm. Then turn the idle down untill it barely runs. Then adjust it up untill it doesnt bog when you give it a large handfull of gass off idle. have fun

As morbidsmurft said, just adjust the idle by feel, you don't really need a tachometer.
