IV horror story
I had a brutal bout of food poisoning down here last Christmas and spent the 25th hooked up to IV. It wasn't bad getting the needle in but I had to sit there for nearly 5 hours while my vein drank 2 huge bags of fluid. They were also injecting several different kinds of meds into the IV line to stop the nausea and pain plus an antibiotic. The horror part was that they kept using the same syringe and by the 4th time the medication reacted with the residue from the last and crystalized. It was excruciating and tore up the inside of my vein. My arm hurt for a month. I was oblivious at the time I was so busy trying not to turn inside out. So for future reference when travelling in Mexico tell them in advance that you can afford the extra $1-a-syringe fee for fresh ones!
