well, we all know Gary is far from "normal" . . . ;)

Tap 'er light, RV, and listen to the docs. And watch out for purple future monkeys.

Gary.

Sorry to hear that. But, it could have been a stroke of luck. (Pardon the pun.) Finding out early with a minor stroke is a good thing. They can get you on meds to take care of the problem. Having one later in life is not so good and can cause a lot of damage.

Good luck.

Hang in there Gary!

My Mom had a similiar experience last year, scared everyone that was present, we rushed her to the Hospital against her wishes, she later thanked us.

Her episode convinced me that everyone should know the symptoms of a stroke, and force the person to the Hospital Emergency room.

See ya at DW04!

Same thing happened to me over a year ago (stroke), except I had to be carried out on a stretcher, spent 5 days in intensive care, graduated to a walker about 10-12 days later. I was 48 at the time (and a definate poster child for a stroke in all respects). It is kinda freaky . :yikes: Never did use the wheelchair they gave me (they said people would knock me over if I went the mall). I've been riding for quite a few months now, but I still haven't jumped a double (not even a little one). My goal is to fully recover within two years.

It's an event that you don't want to have happen, even early in life. They say that with modern meds, you can still live until at least your 90's. Let's hope they're right.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts (and prayers). I’ve seen several doctors in the last few days, and I have more appointments in the coming days. But to sum-up a lot of medical babble…I’m fine.

I’ve been cleared (even encouraged) to do everything I was doing prior to my stroke. I even made my doctor say “yes, including riding your dirt bike”.

At this point, they haven’t been able to find any “smoking-gun”. Of course this has led to some pretty invasive tests, but there really isn’t a reason (to date) for my stroke. No one believes that I will have another, but because I’ve had one, they want to make sure that I won’t have another.

um, from what I've heard, the doctor is only supposed to have one hand on your shoulder when he does that test, not both . . . :yikes:

Ya know Pred, I thought that doctor was in a big hurry to give me a colon exam, especially after a stroke. :moon:
